    I started my 3 month probationary period and it ends tomorrow. If I am not informed if I have passed or failed does this mean that I have passed they did say they would meet with me next week but this is after the probationary period ends and they haven't extended it in writing. My pay increases after I have passed. Please advise

      Personally, I'd keep on working and attend the meeting next week - yes it should have been done before the end of your probationary period but I don't think it is that unusual for it to be a little bit after. Or are you concerned about not having the increased pay for a few days ? You could ask them to back date it once you know you have passed and have a permanent contract ? Do you want to stay working there?

        Worried as the last 3 people they have had they have finished after probation period. Is this a way of making people work for less? Like I said pay increases after probation period finishes. Is the probation period assumed successful if they don't inform you after cut off date. ?

          Oh goodness, I can see why you are concerned. Is it possible the 3 before you were just not suitable for the job? Although that would say something about their poor interviewing skills. No there's nothing in law about a probationary period, during the first two years of employment they can get rid of you for pretty much anything ( except any protected characteristics reasons like because you are pregnant etc) and there's not much you can do about it. It will be a contractual thing about your probationary period and notice period, and any pay increase - does it feel like they have put off the end of probabtionary period meeting for any reason other than just being a bit disorganised ? I really don't think there is a great deal to do, if you have ''passed'' your probationary period you can bring up about the pay increase at that point.

          What kind of work are you in? Is it a large organisation ? and do you have a copy of your contract ?

          Hopefully one of the guys that knows more than I do about employment issues will pop along tomorrow with a bit more technical help xxx

            Agree with Amethyst.

            There is nothing to say they must meet you and discuss the moment your formal probationary period expires and. though you don't say when next week your meeting is, they sound to have arranged to see you pretty promptly to me.

              Do you have a written contract (or other document) stating the date the employment started, that the probation period is 3 months and that after successfully completing the probation your pay will increase?
              If so, unless there's another clause stating that they can extend your probation period after 3 months have passed you will be entitled to the pay increase.

              However, if this was just told to you all bets are off.
