  • Stage 2 sickness sanction

I was involved in a car accident. My supervisor advised me that I could take 7 days off which I did. I returned to work to find that she made a mistake as I had taken one day off last year. This then resulted in a stage 1 sickness. Unfortunately due to my Rta I was forced to take another 7 days off a couple of months later I was issued with a one week sick note. This then resulted in a stage 2 sickness sanction. Is this legal and can I do something about this please advise - thank you.

I work in an office and no the Rta was not work related. This was a hit and run! Which happened outside office hours and the sick note states the reason "following Rta" too. Thank you for your reply.

Then yes it is totally lawful

The sickness procedure is not a matter you were off ill, it is a true record you were absent from work. You can always appeal the stage warning as to the managers decision as to why it was issued but do not hold your breath on something like this

Any appeals can be done at stage 3

I take it the sick policy is xyz days sick over 365 days??

Yes regarding the xyz procedure. So if I had a sick note it was completely irrelevant as it about the absence. Thank you for your time and patience.
