Yes, giving the OP the vacant position could be a reasonable adjustment depending on the requirements of the job; however without knowing the full facts you can't say for certain that it is. That is for the employer to determine, and an ET in due course if the OP thinks he/she has been discriminated against.
It's all very well citing case law but its applicability depends on the specifics of the OP's circumstances, which (again) we are not privy to.
