  • Ongoing formal grievance

Hello everyone, I am after some guidance. I have worked for an organisation in the UK for nearly 8 years.

without going into too much detail, I raised a grievance against an individual in this organisation and other employment issues.

The initial investigator asked for some additional questions in relation to the issues that I had raised and later said that they had spoken to the witnesses and that they would complete the investigation. so now another investigator suddenly came on the scene and requested to commence the investigation. This confused me as I thought the initial investigator had nearly concluded and I was thinking that they would request a meeting with me.

The new investigator has now has given me four options. I randomly put the new investigators name in google and clearly works for a very large group of solicitors.

The options are to either have a meeting to discuss additional questions, telephone call, or email of a questions or to use my original grievance letter and my additional responses to questions provided to the previous investigator.

Can they/should they do this? Any advise on how I should proceed would be appreciated.

I do want the grievance process to complete, I will tell the truth to the best of my knowledge and I am prepared, whatever the outcome. I just wonder what the motive is and I feel vulnerable in that they may be trying to trick me with their questioning.

    Any advise appreciated. Thanks.

    Re: Ongoing formal grievance

Hard to give you a precise answer par se without knowing what you accused your colleague of in your grievance.

I suspect however that as you were the one that put in the grievance that you have nothing to worry about and the reason they are wanting to ask you questions is simply nothing more than part of their investigation to get to the bottom of it all and the use of an employee of a law firm, and possibly an actual solicitor is also so the investigation is impartial and to also insure your employers backs are covered in the event of any legal wrangles between them and your colleague or in fact any criminal proceedings your colleague may face if the nature of the allegations are of a criminal nature (i.e. illegal practices or committed a crime such as fraud etc).

Feel free to PM me (click my username and select Private Message) the details of the allegations etc if you wish, i assure you they will not be made public by myself and will be kept between me and you only.
