Taken off the job for asking for a payrise

Hi I spoke to my boss about a pay rise as the job I was put on was a "skilled" job. And I am paid as a mate and not a skilled empoye.
With this my boss took me off the job told me I wasn't good enough for a pay rise And sub contracted someone else in on £6 an hour more than me?

How do I stand? Surely this is wrong ?

been doing the job 9 years and been with this company 4years JULY

did you put your request in writing and your reasons why your not getting paid the same as others doing the job....do you have a grievance procedure

It's a smallish company so things like this are done face to face rather than in writing! Been trying to find my company hand book to see what I can find out.

The job you were put on was classed as "skilled" so you wanted more money.
The employer's choice was then to take you off that job or pay you more.
He made his choice, so I don't see how you can grumble.
The new choice must have had different skills to those you possess. I suggest you ask your employer what those were.
