Hi
I hope you can help me. I am currently going through the redundancy process at work. When they first issued this to me, they commented at that time that they still wanted to run the Project that I am working on, but were unable to afford to fund a full time post. So the plan would be to hire External Trainers as and when needed to run training sessions when the bookings come in. It seemed a bit confusing at first - on one hand they were saying there would be no job, but at the same time asking me to prepare for the continuation of the project, but on an ad-hoc basis. I have gone along with this till now as things were quite vague with how the project was going to continue to be run. However, over the last week or so I have become increasing frustrated with what they are saying. 1. All the admin around the courses has been passed to other members of my team to do - I have had to put together a list of the processes needed and ensure they are briefed on what to do. 2. They have asked me if I would be willing to train potential internal trainers to run the courses if I was not able to (they have asked me if I will be willing to be a free-lance trainer for them, but train others to do this as well). 3. They have just been awarded a grant for some work, and an element of this included delivering training for the Project that I run. They have asked me to think about how this training might be delivered without me in post. Today, I got an email from my boss saying "we need to provide practical help in designing the courses, preparing materials and training the trainers" and we are meeting tomorrow to discuss how we do this. This is basically what I do on a daily basis now.
I am now totally confused as this is all evidence that says the job is still needed, that it is not being made 'redundant', as there is still a need for it and that that need will now be fulfilled by other people within the organisation. They have said to me that the mode of delivery for the job is to become a 'sessional and integrated model' but I just can't see how they can make the job completely redundant, when they have grant money to continue an element of it and are asking me to do all the preparation for it to continue, along with the delivery of these extra sessions.
I was wondering if someone might be able to give me legal advice as to where I stand on this?
Many thanks
