I found this news item in the Croydon Advertiser online this morning. The sexual harassment the claimant was subjected to is bad enough, but the actions of the employer's HR staff beggars belief.

The award the Employment Tribunal handed down should serve as a warning to employers that the sort of behaviour exhibited by the management is not acceptable and needs to be taken seriously.

I agree with you entirely, Cel. This sort of harassment in the workplace is totally unacceptable. Grabbing her backside was and is Indecent Assault, which is a criminal offence, punishable by imprisonment. Making the manager and firm pay was a wise decision by the ET, IMHO.

Unfortunately the level of claims is down by 80% as people simply cant afford the costs and the savings limit is which excludes you from fee remission is set to a measly £3000

As stated above grabbing a woman by her backside or breasts or touching her intimately against her wishes is Indecent Assault which is a criminal offence and carries a custodial sentence. Sending indecent photos over the internet is a further offence, under Section 127, Communications Act 2003.

The civil remedy provisions under Section 3, Protection from Harassment 1997 would provide some relief and, in serious cases, an injunction can be obtained ex parte (without notice) under Part 8, Civil Procedures Act 1998.
