Hi all,
I'm a freelancer looking for some advice. I recently started a freelance, zero hours contract, whereby they call or email me to check availability and book me in.
When I was first interview, the manager (at the time) quoted me a rate of £20.00 per hour, and because I consider that an ample wage I accepted. However, that same week (I was not around at the time) that same manager was made redundant, and for the time being has been replaced by a temporary manager from another department.
Today I spoke to the new temporary manager, and I mentioned what the previous manager had quoted for me - £20.00 per hour, 12 hour days with an unpaid 1 hour lunch break in the middle. He said he had "never heard anything about £20.00 an hour" and that I would be on £10.00 an hour, with the possibility of moving up to £12.50 if I worked with them for a long time.
I feel like I have been purposefully and deliberately lied to in an effort to save money for one of the wealthiest and most power communication companies in the world. Because I was confident that this role would keep me financially secure, I turned down 3 other full time roles which were offered to me while my contract was being drawn up by said communications company. Which, by the way, hasn't yet come through, and so I am at this time working without any written contract, and I won't be able to invoice for 3-4 weeks while the contract is being processed.
Now, in serious financial areas, I am lost for moves and wondering if anyone has been in a similar predicament? i.e. out right lied to.
Rant over. Any help at all would be appreciated.
Joey
