Failure to comply with Tribunal Order

A friend of mine recently won in an employment tribunal.
The tribunal ordered xxx amount of compensation + the Defendant was ordered to provide the claimant with a reference.
Compensation was paid, but the undated and unsigned "reference" simply amounted to a statement of fact stating that the claimant worked for xxx as a xxx from xxx until xxx.
Does this constitute a proper reference?

Yes Cyn, it does. They only have to confirm that they worked for them and between what dates.

If a potential employer asks attendance or performance they may also provide that info.

Friend was employed, but was on a self employed basis, ie paid own tax and NI, would that make any difference, and as it was unsigned and undated surely anyone could have written it?

I think that the fact they have just won a tribunal against the company will limit the amount the company will want to put in a reference, they will put the bare minimum unless they were ordered to put something specific.

Was it on company letter headed paper?
