  • Law payment

    Hi There,
I have a bit of a problem with my previous employer.
I have handed my notice at the end of February (I had two weeks notice according to my contract), to notify my employer that I will be leaving the company (medium size retail bushiness in London) on the 30th of March (giving them a month of notice). I have worked through the whole notice period - till the 30th of march, received last pay check on 26th of March while still working. I was paid around 300 pounds extra, as it was stated - HOLIDAY PAY ( I was with that company for nearly 2,5 years). On my last day, I have checked the internal memo from company’s payroll manager to see what day is the next payment day ( it was stated that is is due on 28th of April). On my last day I wanted to obtain any information from my store manager as to how much exactly I was due in the last pay check that I will receive in April after I’m gone. I was told that the company’s time sheets and payrolls run on 2 weeks delay, so I was expecting to get paid for 2 weeks in April while I was looking for another job. Nothing has reached my account yet (as for 30th of Apri) I have tried to get in contact with HR department and payroll manager of my previous employer, however, none is responding to my email for 3 days now.
I am I bit worried that the company scammed me with my holidays, trying to pay me in advance for 2 weeks (the stated HOLIDAY PAY on last payslip received in march)

My question is, whether I should get in contact with any official agencies like employment tribunal?

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated!
    Thank you!

No don't go ET just yet.

You need to write a formal letter to the employer, and send it recorded delivery so then you have prove they received it. Give them 14 days to reply and arrange payment that you believe is owed stilled.

You can't just go straight to ET, without showing you had not tried all avenues. Emails are not reliable as its possible the emails are not getting through to them. I.e. spam/junk box. Also the fact its only been 3 days since you sent them too. Give them a few more days and send the letter and wait the full 14 days before taking things further.
