What is a Salary Sacrifice? and is it beneficial to me?

I have been asked to sign a Variation to Contract form, this is all to do with this pension scheme the government has rolled out. I just want to make sure i am not being taken advantage of, as in the company is saving itself money?

Any advice would be helpful or clarification on this salary sacrifice? no idea what it is? i read it on the HMRC site still don't understand it!

What percentage of your salary would be sacrificed?
Do you earn more than £150 per week?

yes i get more than £150 a week!

This is part of the Pension scheme rolled out by the government, and this is the sentence in my change to the contract "Payments into the scheme will be done as salary sacrifice" not sure if it is good or bad?
