  • Pay Rises

    Hi there,

Quick question regarding pay rises. Recently some employees, who are employed as the same role as me and many of my other colleagues, have been given pay rises.

The reason I and others haven't gotten one is because we have received a 'letter of concern' (basically a warning for something like being late 3 times within 3 months, or 3 sickness within 6 months, which last 12 months).

Is this legal? or should me and my other colleagues be entitled to the same pay rise since we are doing the same job? Also I have been employed longer than most of the people who have been given these pay rises.

      Re: Pay Rises

I had a similar thing with my employer, if their concerns are justified and in line with their "trigger" policies for raising concerns then I am afraid this is pretty standard.

Have you raised this with them and have they given you any conditions to how/when you may be considered for a pay increase? If not then ask, something along the lines of, if your attendance is markedly improved over a period of [x] months then it will be reviewed.
