  • Contract terminated due to making a mistake..Help please?

    Morning all,

I have been going through some difficulties within the workplace..Long story short I worked in the accounts department (which i was working my way towards a qual with college,No training or support from the company) I was constantly being watched from day to day by an comments were being made by a female colleague to the point of her reporting back to my line manager every day,she would speak to me without respect but not to others.I made my line manager aware he took no notice,I then went to the DP who held a meeting again the meeting was all one sided and the problem was brushed under the carpet.
Since then i made a mistake which was brought to my attention the following day, being pulled in to an office with my line manager and a witness on his side which resulted in suspension.Since then i have been back for a hearing again all one sided to the point of the chair person and witness (on their side) gong back and forth to my line manager while i awaited a decision,my contract was terminated.

Since then i have received a letter which doesn't add up on the basis of the hearing and they have also threatened me due to someone overseeing my facebook status.I did update a status but i haven't named the company..As you can appreciate i was mad at the way i have and still am being treated.

My question being where do i stand? i know i cant take them to a tribunal because i was only there a year. Can they take action regarding facebook?

    Thanks in advance

I am sorry to have to tell you but unless you can link your dismissal to either discrimination, public interest whistleblowing, or being victimised for raising legitimate and provable health and safety concerns, then you really have no claim for unfair dismissal. At least not from what you've said here. It sucks I know.
Nothing I say should be taken as qualified expert advice. I am not an expert in anything.

If you decide to act on anything I have posted you agree not to hold me liable in any way.

If you are unsure then you need to take proper advice from someone who is an expert.

What allegations are they making and what threats are they making?

And also what does it state in your contract about social media, most companies have something written into the contract/policies nowadays.
Any opinions I give are my own. Any advice I give is without liability. If you are unsure, please seek qualified legal advice.

          Thanks for the replies guys.

There has been a lot of one sided things happening within the business and i feel that since i made it clear i wasn't going to sit and say nothing this is one of the reasons they've bullied me out.

The facebook policy only got sent out to staff a day before they suspended me,via email i didn't sign anything.

The letter stated that it had come to light that I made an inappropriate comment on facebook, and they advise me to remove it immediate effect, the companies contemplating whether to investigate if this happens ill be notified.
