  • Injury at work...how long do interim payments take

I was injured at work following an assault by a patient. This was 18 months ago. I have undergone major shoulder surgery, have returned back to work twice but each time it's aggravated the injury and I am now off sick again and awaiting further surgery. This has resulted in over £4000 loss of earnings due to reduced pay and being unable to work shifts

my employer has accepted liability but I have to wait til after the next surgery before compensation can be settled. My solicitor has applied to insurers for an interim payment and I wondered how long this takes to process as 4 weeks have passed and no reply has been received as yet. I am employed by nhs.

Are you already getting the Temporary Injury Allowance topping up your pay to 85%?

Yes but I usually earn £400 plus a month in bonuses for unsociable hours. I used to take home around £1200 a month but it's been as low as £880 x
