What are people's views on the current laws surrounding Disability discrimination in the workplace? Do you think they're adequate, or that some changes still need to be made?
It was a separate law until 2010, when it was brought together with all the other discrimination laws under one acts, the Equality Act 2010, which has applied in England and Wales since October of that year.
There are several things that employers need to know about the act, including what they are allowed to ask when recruiting staff, what "reasonable adjustments" they are required to make, and what types of disability discrimination exist, and what constitutes each one (source: http://blog.rmandco.co.uk/blog/bid/3...Discrimination)
Do you think the current laws are fair? Do you think they protect disabled workers adequately? I think this will be a good topic to discuss.
