  • Notice period change to employment contract.

I have been working for my employer since February and had a brief 1:1 with my Team Leader today, where he brought it to my attention that the company would like to change my employment contract. They are proposing to change from a 1 month notice period to a 3 month notice period and he has stated that HR will draft new terms & conditions for me to sign if acceptable.
Am I obliged to accept these new conditions and sign or is this like a negotiable process where other terms & conditions could be negotiated. I appreciate the extra security this will provide me, but am concerned that 3 months may hinder any future career move. Am I likely to be jeopardising my future employment if I don't agree to this proposal?

Not sure if this warrants being raised her, but I'm finding myself a little unsure how to take this proposal.

    Regards,
    Clive

Hi Clive, & welcome to Legal Beagles.

It would certainly be an improvement on your current contractual notice.

If it were me, I would wait for the written words & then request a reasonable time to peruse the document before signing.

Thanks for the advice. I've had time to reflect over the weekend and I think I will follow this path.

I will take my time & also explore the options of any movement in my basic pay :santa2:
