Redundant but not offering alternative role

I have been told by management that my role is redundant. They have offered me redeployment in a role that pays a lot less.
However, a manager's role recently became available but they did not offer me that, although I have many years experience.
Any advice would be welcome on how to handle this.

There is what is referred to as a 'suitability test' to determine whether the offer is a fair one.
