Hello,
I wonder if you can help me determine what the most likely outcome is of the following which has occured at work and what disciplinary outcome is like - nothing, warning, Final written warning, gross misconduct & dismissal
Person A opened a colleagues calender in error when meaning to access another persons calender. Person A has access to both calenders. A meeting caught their eye with the words HR in the title. The invite wasn't opened.
Person A, during a conversation about the company with Person B mentioned that this colleague had this meeting. Nothing further was said.
Person B later had a meeting with Person C and asked about the colleagues time availability. Person C accessed the calender of said colleague and Person B said 'ooh what's that' referring to the meeting.
Person C opened the meeting and saw the contents.
Person C then went outside and happened to bump into Person A (coincidence) and proceed to talk about the invite and what had been seen. Person A only commented to say don't be paranoid. A full discussion was not had.
Another Person D outside at the time has reported person C for reading personal mail and discussing it outside.
Investigation meetings have now taken place with Person A, B and C. I don't know what discussion has been had with Person D.
A, B and C explained what had happened as detailed above.
what do you think the likely disciplinary out come now is? HR are saying their was inappropriate access to computer records (although A, B and C had all been granted access to the calender by the colleague) and that is was a breach of trust and possible dismissal.
Really appreciate your help.
