I've been employed in a regular permanent job for the past 3 three years.
I saw another job as a permanent shift manager in the same industry in a different company, I applied for the job and got the positiion.
At interview I was told the job was 22 hours a week and a permanent position. When I got the job offer over the phone I confirmed again it was a permanent position and the manager ensured me it was.
During my induction day I was told I would be going to another store with more hours as a shift manager.
I handed my notice in and started the new job today.... during the shift my manager asked if I was aware that this job was only temp until January, I said "no, I was told in was permanent" the manager pulled a face like "ooppsss".
The person I am replacing was at the original store I was going to but now changed their mind and not leaving. I spoke to the manager that offered me the post and she said that that post has now been dropped and this job is temp until January or I can move to another store on a permanent contract for 17 hours work a week with overtime available.
she is adamant she told me this position was temp at the interview. She did not !!!
I have nothing in writing only verbal agreement.
Do I have any sort of redress at all?? I gave up a permanent job for this !
