I've recently been looking for a new job and found a perfect job that I had the relevent qualifications and experience for, the role was within the IT field and had a salary/package as what I'm currently on.
I had to apply for the job through a recruiter and they seemed dubious that I'd be "Overqualified" for the role, still I asked them to put me forward as it looked really good. I got a phone call that afternoon from the recruiter to tell me that the employer had responded that by looking at my CV that I was overqualified and would not be progressed to an interview.
Needless to say I was'nt happy with this respond, when I asked for further information the recruiter reitterated what they had said and confirmed that other applicants had been turned away due to being overqualified the employer themselves refused to provide feedback and told me to approach the recruiter for feedback.
Where do I stand with having the feedback of being overqualified? Based on my experience/qualifications it would be impossible to get this job. It's a bitter pill to swallow, thinking back 7 years when I was told I was Underqualified for jobs.
