Termination period

Hi all
I have given a 3 month termination notice as per my contract. Can anyone clarify this please, I expect to cease working after 13 weeks which is actually 3 months in weeks but my employer wants me to work 3 calendar months. Who is right? Many thanks in advance. Kind regards Tony
ps I'm actually working 14 weeks technically but they are still sticking to their guns and saying 3 calendar months

What does your contract od employment state your otice period is?

3 months means 3 months. Thus, for example, 3 months from today, 12 November 2024, will be 12 February 2025.

13 weeks is 3 months,I'm actually working 14 weeks of notice

Except it isn't.

13 weeks is 91 days.

The first 3 months of the year (excepting leap years) are 90 days; the last 3 are 92 days.

Glad to work it out for you. 14 weeks is clearly more than any 3 month period, possibly by 5 or 6 days. If your contract provides for 3 months notice, you do not have to be held to 14 weeks, but may of course agree it.

The point is that your notice period specifies a number of months, not weeks.
