  • Something not right

I have been working for this company for a little over a year and half. In the first 3 months of starting I was up for redundancy. As the company had a contract with a third party and now over staffed people needed to go. Alot of agency staff from the third party 'voluntary' left. So job safe.

This however left the company stretched thin as more people left then i suppose they anticipated.

The remaining staff was stretched thin and for 6 solid months we were so busy breathing was classed as a luxury.

Thankfully the company hired more staff and now we have time to breath.

This however is not a good sign to top bosses and redundancies are up again.

We are split into two departments both doing completely different work but connect for an outcome.

My department have had no cuts however the other department has.

We are now being told we need to take on duties from the other department, So not only doing our job which is quite demanding which we signed a contract for but now being made to take on another role.

This extra job role is however not being compensated and there is no plan to increase our pay.

We are expected to take on more work for the same pay we are currently receiving.

To top it off, I recently found out the staff in the other department not only work less hours but also get paid £2k more annually.

When raising questions with management in regards to more work for same pay I get responses like 'I don't know' or it's a business decision.

Is this legal? Making us take on another role for same pay while the other department keep to their responsibilities and pay.
Where would I stand raising this aswell as I don't believe this is the end of redundancies and I start pushing even more i will end up with the pink slip aswell.

On the basis of the information you have given, what you describe is not unlawful. By all means raise it with management, but there is no legal action that you can threaten.
