Hello all. I’m hoping someone wise may be able to help me - I’ve tried to do some research on ACAS but I’m still not sure.
I started a part time job on 4th April 2024 working two days a week and was told in my offer letter there would be a three month probation.
Soon after I started I realised that they had grossly overestimated the work levels and I cleared the backlog they had within my first couple of weeks. I raised this with the directors in my 1st one to one meeting and found work to keep as busy as possible and just kept being told it would get busier…
My 3 month probation date came and went on the 4th July and no one mentioned it. Both directors were on holiday. One director returned the following week but again, nothing was mentioned. Yesterday I received a call on my day off to say that unfortunately, probation periods are for both the employer and the employee, and they will be terminating my employment as they do not have the work levels they were expecting to have. He also said they would pay me until the end of the month, giving me two weeks notice that I didn’t need to work as they have no work for me to do.
He did say he’d confirm it in writing but he hasn’t as yet and I have never received a contract, the only paperwork I have is the offer letter. What are my rights in this situation? I’m guessing probably not a lot and the two weeks notice is more than I would be legally entitled to?
Part of my role meant I was entitled to commission. Would I still be entitled to this?
Thank you in advance!
