Alright,
So I work in an entry-door manufacturing plant. I've been here about 4 months and I don't have a reputation for being goofy or uncareful. I was also apart of the safety team, which is a team of 5 people from different departments that make sure that safety is being enforced.
So about a month ago, a co-worker and I accidentally dropped a door on my foot which gave me a tennis ball sized contusion.
I was out for two days and filed a worker's comp claim.
Okay so I return to work after some of the swelling subsided and things get weird.
They quietly remove me from the safety team and stop inviting me to the safety meetings and start getting other people to perform simple tasks in my department. Again, I have no previous history of injuring myself or others.
Also, I want to mention that everyone else on the team and in the plant have all had injuries that went unreported. The leader ran a forklift through a wall, and two others have been sliced by door frames.
My employer noted on my file that I should've used a better lifting technique, but it's irrelevant because I have lifted 1 million doors in the past with the same technique with no injury or accident. I also find it strange that they quietly removed me from the safety team without actually sitting me down and telling me.
Does this count as retaliation? I'm in Ohio.
