Hi all I am new to the site and hoping someone can help me.
My organisation follows the NJC pay scale "Green Book" , it is a non maintained special school.
"UNISON met with the other local government unions, GMB and Unite, on Wednesday 1 November, and the joint decision is to accept the pay offer for 2023 of an increase of £1,925 on all NJC pay points (pro rata’d for part-time and term time only staff). The pay award will be backdated to 1 April 2023."
Below is an excerpt from an email sent by my employer....
"All staff paid on the NJC pay spine will initially be awarded 50% of the national pay award back dated to April 2023. Due to the significant workload of calculating back pay on basic salary and overtime for over 200 staff it will be included within your salary on the 25th January 2024.....
The Executive and Governors are committed to quarterly review of this decision with the aim of achieving the full award when it is responsible and sustainable for the organisation to do so. This will include consideration that if performing with an improved budget that we reinstate and also potentially back date the remaining proportion of the pay award. In our current financial modelling for the 2024-25 year an assumption has been made that we have returned to a full award."
I would have though they were under obligation to adhere to the agreed upon pay scales and conditions of the green book, it is also concerning they will potentially back date the remaining proportion of the pay award. Can anyone let me know their thoughts or offer any advice whether this is permissable and any next steps.
Thanks
