  • Boundaries of contract and where i stand. No union membership

Have been told to do another job role as cover. No extra pay.

Its a different job role/title and was just assumed that I will do it as cover (holiday, sickness) . Ive been threatened with the works equivalent of a "black mark" if i dont comply.
Just wondering what the legal status of recording phone calls is. If i explicitly state that i would be recording. What are my rights within the work place to take this call privately also?
I have worked there for over 7 years and always picked up the odd job additional role.

    England

    Any advice appreciated!

Firstly, if you have a role description it is normal to find a phrase along the lines of "other duties as necessary to assist with the running of the business".

This does not sound like a permanent change to your role just a reasonable management request to assist covering holiday and sickness.

That aside for what purpose do you want to record a call and who would that call be with?
