  • Rolling contract probation period

My sister is on a rolling contract, and has been for over 2 years. She was going to be made redundant, but a position was found in another department of the same government organisation. One manager spoke about probation period, but she already passed probation in her previous role. As it’s a rolling contract, she does not have any updated terms or an updated contract for the new role.

Can you please advise as to what the process is for probation? From a quick google, it says that a new contract in the same organisation is likely to be 3 months probation instead of 6, but there is no advice on a rolling contract.

Thank you for any advice you can provide.

What are the terms of this rolling contract? The most likely is that you continue on the same terms, having completed the probation period.

The idea of a rolling probation period, if that is what is suggested, is in my view for the birds.
