Evening all,
Hope everyone is well and safe!
I have a bit of an issue I’d love to get some advice on. I appreciate it’s a subject that’s probably come up a lot so sorry if that’s the case but could really do with some advice.
About a year ago, I started a new role. The organisation is about 4 hours (5 on a bad day!) each way so not close by. It was agreed early on (although not in the contract, it was a verbal agreement) that I would not have to go into the office and have a flexible agreement. This hasn’t been an issue and if anything, they have been impressed at the output of the work so no problem there. I even had a conversation last week about how well everything’s been going.
Fast forward to a whole week later and we’re in a different landscape.
They’re looking at wanting to get the team in face to face a minimum of once per week and two on other weeks. Naturally this has come as a bit of a kick in the teeth and I’m not sure how to deal with it.
I’ll clarify with the fact that I was always told remote working would happen due to distance. It worked well and actually if it wasn’t for this, I’d not have taken the role.
When it comes to changes like this, especially as I haven’t directly had a conversation, it was more team based generic points being raised, do I have any rights or is it a case of put up or leave?
if it’s the latter, as much as it’s a faff it wouldn’t be the end of the world, just not overly ideal and something to have to resolve.
Any info would be awesome! Hopefully it doesn’t come across like I’m complaining for the sake of it.
Cheers
