  • Probation period targets set late.

    Hello,

In the situation where a job is subject to a 6-month probationary period, is it OK on the week that the probation ends- for the employer to say that they forgot to set specific targets and extend the period for another four weeks because of this? As well as add a bunch of targets.

    Other factors:

The employee has worked very well and achieved many things during their time in the post.

Some of the new targets are impossible due to insufficient staff levels.

The employee is going on maternity leave the week after this "four week extension" probationary period.

    Any advice appreciated,

    Many thanks.

Does your contract of employment, under any probationary period clause, allow for an extension and if so under what circumstances?

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
