    Hi.
    I'm working for a firm that's introduced an app onto our pdas.
    Its called "people safe" now this app can be activated any time and listen in to us at work apparently thats legal.

    What I'm not sure about is the fact that they've full access to our personal details , can activate it any time thay want and it cannot be deactivated our end.

    I've not signed anything to say they can do this and as yet I've not opened the app and agreed to the terms and conditions.

    If I'm on callout that thing will be on all night in my bedroom.

    I keep getting hassled by management to accept it on my device.

    Surely this is too much?

    Any legal info guys?

    If it is listening in all the time, that would certainly raise a privacy concern. You should ask for full details of how the app operates, as the web page peoplesafe.co.uk suggests that is not the case.

      Thank you.

      I get that part but what I'm saying is they "could" listen in all the time if they want to.

      As you know, sometimes people do things they shouldn't.

      My point is am I legally contractually obliged to accept this app as once I have, I've given them the right to use it.

      Surely they can't force me to accept it can they?

          I do not see that your employer can lawfully refuse to pay you.

          I think you need to be pressing for absolute clarity on what this app does and how it works.

          Have you raised your concerns about privacy?

            To refuse to pay you for work being carried out irrespective of the app would ne an unlawful deduction of wages.

              Well they've done it!

              An official email from hr.

              Stating basically if I do not comply with company h/s regulations and accept the app disciplinary action will be taken with wages immediately ceased.


              I think I need to give acas a bell as my company is clearly making their own laws up as they go along.

              What say you guys?
