With 3 months to Christmas our company has decided we have to use holidays for any days we’re closed historically we’ve been paid for these days and as we run January to January with holidays not many employees have them left plus we’re told constantly to use holidays through the year as we won’t be able to carry them over to next year , it will look like people will be offered to work them days back through the busy Black Friday to Christmas period take the time off unpaid or use holidays
I know there in there right to put this request out there but with time scale and probably knowing people have no holidays left where do we stand ……Thank you

Legally a company has the right to determine when holiday should be taken, particularly for a "shut-down" period" such as over the Christmas break.
So long as double the notice period has been given for the number of days being required to take, which in this instance they have, then they require staff to take any closed days over the Christmas as holiday.

They have identified that some staff may have already taken all their holiday so have set out a way for this to be achieved.

If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com

I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
If you have any doubts then do please seek professional legal advice.

Through out the year we’re pushed to take our holidays by management plus not able to take holidays for Black Friday period , we hear that if you have holidays left to use them but then people without holidays will either be made to work time back or take unpaid is it right everyone should be offered the same conditions eg all be given the chance to work hours back

There is no rule of law generally requiring an employer to treat everybody the same.
