Hello,
I've recently found out that when I was employed for a specific job role, my predecessor had a different title (e.g head of dietetics, although he was the only dietitian in the clinic. He reported to a non-dietician manager). My job title in my contract and advert said dietician. However, when I passed the job interview, I was asked to go in for a handover with him and have since, sat at his desk and have taken over his duties. I have since signed all correspondence with Head of Dietetics and no one's ever told me I shouldn't be. The company then reinstated the Head of dietetics title to my mat cover, saying he can work more days/hours onsite and so should be Head. This is when I found out my contract title was different to the person who had the job before me. When I questioned how/why, my employers told me my title was never Head, despite seeing it written everywhere and telling me no different. They said when I joined, the non dietician manager was given some of the old Head's duties and listed them. I do all of these duties except 1 thing, which is telling the rest of the clinic about what's happening in dietetics (which he asks me and then reports at the meeting with other healthcare staff). I was also totally unaware of this restructuring going on whilst they were hiring for the role. Where do I stand? To my knowledge, what I actually do on a day to day basis makes up my job contract and not just the title written down.
Thanks in advance
