  • Witch Hunt from External Company

    Hello all,

I have an issue at work currently where I believe there is a witch-hunt against me from an external company.

I used to work for the (external) company in question, and we parted on less-than-amicable terms. There was an incident with the police that was made public, and they used the disrepute argument, compounded with an inability to carry out duties in accordance with the contract (ie. access to airspace environments). The company I now work for (I've been here 8 years) have been a service provider and supplier for the other company for 14 years, and I started working for the new company whilst they were a supplier to the other company.

The previous company have known that I have worked for the new company for years. However recently, I have had a number of promotions, and the previous company have started demanding meetings with our directors to discuss "the changes" and apparent "performance issues" (which, incidentally, is the reason why I have been appointed in the new role, to eliminate any issues).

I've heard from people within the external company that these performance issues are a guise to question my appointment in to the new role, and that there is a personal witch-hunt or dislike against me because the former employer and I parted ways.

I know I could be paranoid, however I have on decent authority that this is about me and my appointment in to the new role, and the company are using any issues to try and drag our company over the coals.

I have a feeling that there could be an ultimatum where the company threatens to stop using us as a supplier (which would lead to many people losing their jobs) unless I'm no longer in the role which I'm currently in.

I have no idea where I stand as an individual, and to be honest it's causing me a lot of anxiety. As before, I believe this is a witch-hunt and don't know what I can about it, if anything

One remedy would be an action by you for their attempt to interfere with your contract. However you are at the stage of suspicion, with no evidence at all.

Talk to your employer about it. Be careful to keep them on your side.
