  • Could I sanctioned by UC for going part time

    Hi,

I currently working full time and receive a universal credit. I’m unhappy with management and considering resigning…would anyone know if I went from full time to part time would i be sanctioned universal credit?

I think it depends on your situation. If working full time in your current job is having a seriously adverse effect on your health, then leaving your current full time employment should not impact on your UC claim. I would strongly advise you speak with someone from the job centre about your options. Citizens advice suggests trying to sort out any workplace issues before leaving. This would show that you have tried to improve the situation. The job centre do not tend to look kindly on those who they see as having just walked out of employment.

Also, if you were to go part time, you may find that you still need to job search and go to the job centre as there is a push for people to be in full time employment and not need UC.

It might also be with checking out the citizens advice website too:
