  • Written Up For Reporting Harassment

My girlfriend was being harassed at work yesterday by another employee. Not sexual harassment. After putting up with it for a couple hours, she talked to the nearest manager. When the other employee saw that she was talking to a manager. The other employee started getting very hostile and when my girlfriend tried to leave the area to let things cool down the other employee followed her with a large knife in her hand cursing at her and basically being very aggressive. My girlfriend left work early crying. When she went into work today she was written up because she told her manager where they were at the time. The write up says that if she ever talks to a manager about another team member outside of a private office, she will be terminated. It also states that by her reporting this to a manager, this is a form of gossip and they don't allow gossip in the work place. Everything that happened yesterday was recorded on the companies surveillance system, with audio. Even the other employee with the knife. They also told her that she is not to talk about this again or she will be fired. Can they get away with this in Texas? I can't believe they put all this in writing on her write up.

estimator15 I’m sorry that your girlfriend is having to deal with this. You say that you’re in Texas. This is a UK site and I don’t think

Apologies, phone went odd. As this is a UK site, the knowledge is UK law, and I don’t think anyone here would be able to assist.
