I don’t normally ask the questions as I quite well versed on many aspects of the law. I think I know the answer to this one but I thought I would gain a few views on a weird one .

My company is reorganising its management structure and reducing the number of managers and as a result they are forcing a number of managers take what amounts to promotions which yes does include a very large increase to their salary. It may sound like everyone’s dream come true as we all love money but obviously with the promotion and extra salary comes more responsibility and a number of people are concerned in case they are unable to perform the new roles to the required standard and some are just happy with there current roles and don’t what a role with more responsibly . . I know an employer can force people into lesser roles if there current positions are deleted and there are no roles available equal or similar to there current role but can a company force someone to take a promotion.

If the company is restruturing, resulting in a reduced number of roles, then part of the process may be the redeployment of affected managers to other roles which appears to be what is happening in this case.

Is it the aim of the company to redeploy all affected managers and in doing so avoid a redundancy situation?
