  • paying for my own tools in california

i work in california. i am a technician i service fireplaces aswell as install the fireplaces. since January 1st when i started i have been paying for my own tools out of pocket. i get paid 20$ an hr.. i was under the impression that my employer had to pay me twice the minimum wage if i was to pay for my own tools, is that correct? i live in california so i guess 14x2 =28 an hr
if so how would i get reimbursed? would i either add 8$ to my wage per hr or would i have to show receipts for all the tools i bought and get reimbursed that way? how would it work?

This is a UK law forum, so we will not be able to help you with this.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

when I was apprentice I had to save and get my own tools, in the UK., I earnt 10 shillings a week, 40 hour week building AGA cookers and fitting Rayburns + plumbing central heating systems, the company accountant took back 2 shillings a week for tools once enough to pay at discount next tool Fitters Mate tells me what to get. part of apprentice job completion necessary. hourly rate USA always better than UK.

As a US citizen, I can only say that in this case, everything depends on your employer, and what will be the agreement between you.
