  • Qualification Pay

    Hi
My employer put me through a multi skilling course several years ago. I now have an NVQ3 in Electrical having passed the course. At the time of passing they said to get the pay for being multi skilled I would have to prove that I am "doing the job" and to accomplish this I would have to complete a set number of jobs of a specific nature and provide proof of doing so. If I was to have joined the company with this qualification there would be no requirement for this and I would recieve the full pay straight away as would be the case if I left the company and rejoined it. The qualification is one that they set and organised with Tresham college and is a nationally recognised qualification. Are they within their rights to withhold the money or should each employee receive the rate for the qualification from the time they pass it?
Thanks for any advice or assistance.

you need to start by looking at whatever is said about this in your contract of employment or any agreements relating to training.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

How long is it since you passed the course and have you now proved you are doing the job?

If so then I would suggest that you speak to your manager/HR and ask whether your salary can be put at the level of other employees/new recruitments who have this qualification.
If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com
