  • Dog to be in the office

    Hi

I work in a small London office, the owner has decided that he wants a dog in the office for morale.

I am really allergic to dogs and an asthmatic. So an allergic reaction will bring on bad asthma attacks hardly any breath etc... I have been hospitalised in the past.

i have said this to HR and senior management and it looks like they are still going to go ahead.

Where do I stand on this?

I like my job, I just cannot simply resign as I have a young family to support and there are not many jobs out there.

    Many thanks.

Your employer has a duty of care, you should write a formal letter to HR and your line manager explaining your concerns.

      Hi ARCADIAN1

      Side issues

Whose going to look after the dog out of office hours?

If the dog get's ill whose going to look after the dog in those circumstances?

      Main

I think you need to raise a Formal Grievance (make sure things are done in writing), you've tried raise the matter informally.

You could also seek assistance from Occupation Health, explain the situation, seek their Guidance, again in writing. You can back up how the dog will effect your health by getting a letter from your Doctor.
