Conditional job offer

Hi, new to the site.

Really just after some advice on the wording of a conditional job offer I've received. There were conditions, which I have met, but have a couple of questions.

Thanks for the speedy reply. In short my offer states the following:

The pre-employment checking process usually takes around 4-6 weeks to complete. In order
to ensure that checks can be completed as quickly as possible, please return the required
documents. Please ensure that each document is completed as accurately as possible before returning.

Upon successful completion of your pre-employment checks, we will be in a position to make a formal offer of employment to you, at which point we will discuss with you a start date and issue your contract of employment. Please do not resign from your current employer until your pre-employment checks have successfully been completed

There were a number of other conditions which I have met (only the final checks such as references etc. I would expect no issues with references).

I am hoping to clarify if there is any reasonable expectation on my part that these final pre employment checks should be initiated/completed within a reasonable timescale (4 to 6 weeks... Maybe a little longer) OR can the employer take as long as they want?

From the wording above is it also reasonable to assume once completed they should make a formal offer without delay? For context there has been a verbal indication that it could be 6 months.

The expectation that is set out is that these pre-employment checks will take 4-6 weeks, however given the current siutation this may take longer, particularly if the company is relying on a third party to carry out these checks.

Again the indication is that one these pre-employment checks have been concluded, assuming they are satisfactory and that all other conditions have been met, then yes this would be followed up with an offer of employment
