Hello all - looking for some info and advice as I can't find anything regarding this...
I am a service occupier six months of the year. I work in a very rural area and as part of my role, am required to stay in accomodation provided by my employer who rents this from a private landlord. This is necessary for me to carry out my duties and provide oncall.
I was shown the accomodation on interview around 8 months ago and it was ok - nothing fancy but clean and warm. I'd share it with my colleague who would take over from me and work back to back.
I was informed this week that the accomodation is too expensive and they are moving us to another house which is five miles away from work, very dated and very remote. The reason for the move is that it is much cheaper. I have huge safety concerns being that far away from my work place and I honestly dont think I would be able to stay there myself as it is so remote and so dated and dark inside. Being near work and having access to all areas nearby is essential for attending call outs and emergencies and if the weather turned, I would struggle. I'm so concerned about this that I am considering quitting and finding another job. Do I have any options here? Staying in accomodation provided by my employer is essential and part of my role. I really like my job but I feel this is totally stressing me out thinking about it.
Any advice is welcome :-)
