Statutory Sick Pay

I am currently work on a zero hour contract but with regular hours generally. Due to the issues we are facing I have been told that i will be offered no hours but dont know how long this is going to last, it may be 2 weeks or 4 months.*

I have contracted a cough and fever today and I am self isolating for 14 days as required. I have earned enough to qualify for SSP, I am still on the books and can be still offered work. Can i request they pay SSP for two weeks at the mininum?

If you were expected to work a shift and have not done so because you are self-isolating I believe given the new arrangements, and that you are still on the books that so long as you have earned the lower earnings limit of £118 per week you may be able to get SSP.

I would suggest that you let your employer know as soon as possible and ask them about your entitlement to SSP. *
