  • Notice period

Hi all, I am wanting to put my notice in at work. What I was wondering is I am off for 2 weeks over Christmas so could I give 3 weeks notice to include the 2 weeks off at Christmas and then phone in sick for the last week in the new year so I dont actually go to work for any of my notice period ?

Sorry it is not as simple as that without asking some questions:

What is the contractual notice period that you have to provide the company?

By the time you end your notice period will you have earned enough accrued holiday for you still to be paid your 2 weeks holiday?

Despite my issue morally with you phoning in sick when you may not actually be at the time what is the company sick pay policy?

I do not provide advice by PM although I may on occasion ask you to send me documents this way but any related advice will be provided back on your thread.

I do my best to provide good practical advice, however I do so without liability.
