I was offered for a job and they were desperate for me to start asap. So I asked for draft contract and all seemed fine so handed my notice in. Only afterwards did I kick myself and realise that no actual job offer in writing. But there is a long email thread backwards and forwards with reassurances, discussion of holiday, hours etc. Final email was that due to reasons beyond control their is no longer a job for me. My current boss has extended my notice period for 3 months, same pay etc. But I'm still left in a vulnerable position. I feel like an idiot, but I'm wondering if the email thread and draft contract would be enough for me to get some kind of redress? The job I was going for was in a very small business, less than 5 employees.

Firstly did the draft contract give details of notice period, secondly have you agreed in writing to the job offer? After acceptance by you of a job offer it is not possible to "withdraw the offer" and technically to end the employment they would need to serve notice and make the respective notice payment. If you would like a one-to-one expert consultation with me on your employment issue than I can be contacted by emailing admin@legalbeaglesgroup.com
