I've tried to a search on this topic but in my case I can't quite find an answer.
I'd like to know what is the minimum period in which one can be notified for a new roster / days shift.
Roster changes are quite common in aviation. Planes break, people get sick etc... However for this we have a period called a Standby Duty. Standby is a duty in which we wait ready to go if the situation arises that new crew will be required immediatley. This standby Period is given to us a month in advance.
However today I was expected to fly, my shift was given to another crew which is no problem of course.
The problem comes in when instead of just canceling my shift, they gave me a standby which I have been called out for (I.e to fly because someone is sick) and now my shift ends 8 hours later than it was originally supposed to. This in effect, stops me from going a vacation I had planned this evening and thus begs the question, how much notice are airlines supposed to give for a roster change?
