  • New role in same company

    Hello

I was give a new role within my existing company at the start of may but have not received an updated contract of employment or job description. Should I demand both? How would this affect any notice period I had to give?
    Thanks in advance.

What you should receive will depend on the terms of the new job.

If your new role has not meant any changes to your existing terms and conditions of employment then typically you should get a letter confirming the effective date of your new role, the new title and include a copy of the associated job description.

If your new role includes changes to your existing terms and conditions of employment which you are happy with then your company could handle it one of two ways:

    1. Only minor changes to terms and conditions send you a letter containing all the details i have listed above and what the changes are to your existing terms and conditions but then state something along the lines of "all other terms and conditions of employment as detailed in the document dated xxxx remain unchanged." You should be asked to sign and return a copy of the letter to indicate you are in agreement with the changes.
    2. If major changes then a new set of terms and conditions should be issued for which you should be asked to sign and return a copy. Ensure that your continuous employment is from your original start date.
