  • Underpaid - no information as to when it will be resolved

I have been underpaid by £750 so I emailed payroll and asked that they correct this mistake ahead of pay day this Friday. Have been advised by management that I need to speak to the dealership accountant who is on holiday and isn’t back until Monday, after pay day.

I directed them to the email that comes with my payslip that says “Should you have any queries, please contact your Dealership Accountant or a member of the payroll team at payroll@xxxxx.co.uk” and said that as the dealership accountant isn’t here that I had to email payroll in an effort to get it resolved. I am also on holiday myself from today and was relying on that money.

Can they make make me wait unnecessarily? It doesn’t seem very fair.

I appreciate your situation. However it may not be within the authority of payroll to actually make the payment if there has been an underpayment. Payroll may have investigated whether there was an underpayment but they may need to have authority from the dealership accountant to make the payment to you.

I would suggest that maybe in light of any delay and if you are due the £750 payment, then you email and request that since this will miss the payroll run on Friday could the payment be made to you outside of a payroll cycle and as soon as the dealership accountant has given authority for it to be paid.

      Thanks ULA.

Dealership accountant is back today, she’s told the rest of my team that she was never instructed to pay us, only the used car team. She hasn’t given any confirmation about when it will be paid.

Ive emailed her and text my sales manager but no response from either as yet.

At least they are hopefully now dealing with the situation. Having just got back from holiday and not being aware of the instruction make the payment, she may just need to investigate and make sure everything is in order. Hopefully you should hear back over the next couple of days.
