I was working for sainsburys just on a temporary basis as a supervisor when they called me into the office to allegedly say they think I was defrauding them by topping up giftcards to use myself (They claimed they had CCTV footage which shows me topping up gift cards but where I work I work on the customer service desk where my main job was to process refunds for customers on a daily basis, any refunds where customers didn't have their card for w0uld go onto a sainsburys giftcard), they initially said that I owed £250 and received a letter from saying I was dismissed due to fraud worth £250. but then a couple weeks after I was dismissed I received a letter from dwf acting for them saying I owed them £4700 in both stolen goods and security costs.

Now I understand any Letters from DWF, just ignore but they are saying bailiff action could be taken, I just wanted peoples thoughts as this is really ridiculous from sainsburys and dwf and also wanted to understand where I stand. This happened back in January but I ignored around 5 letters from dwf and they stoped sending them for about 3 months but now I have started receiving them again saying if I didn't reply to their message they may take action.

What action are they going to be taking? You have not been to court (and it sounds as though you will not be) so how are they going to be able to send bailiffs around?

There have been no security costs, the company were being employed fo security and the costs would have been paid whether you came along or not. Have a look at the RLP Oxford case, a similar company issuing similar threats and see what the judge said about the alleged security costs.

How were you dismissed and was there a proper investigation into the allegation. How long were you a temp for..did you consider filing an appeal. I think the reason why they have gone that far down the line is that it seems you have accepted the allegation as facts which does not seem to have been disputed by yourself.
