  • Employer wants to introduce fines

I work at a car dealership and we are a little understaffed. Sometimes you can deal with multiple customers back to back taking you right up to 6pm which is when we finish. There is then an expectation for us to update our diary before go home, regardless of what time it is. Obviously it doesn’t always happen so the next day your diary is flagged for having x overdues. The management team has now emailed us to say that as of today they will be fining is £25 each time.

Can they do this? Obviously none of us are agreeing to it.

No & if the employer does so, and deducts it from your remuneration, it would be an unlawful deduction of wages.
