Notice of resignation - no written contract

Can anyone advise me please? When handing in a resignation how much notice would legally need to be given? Note: there is no written contract.

I've read in general terms, that this should be 1 week's notice. Is this the case irrespective of how often your wages are paid?

i.e. if you are paid weekly, do you give 1 weeks notice? If paid monthly you give 1 months notice?

Any advice will be gratefully received, as it's imperative that the resignation letter is worded correctly.

If you have no written contract which states a notice period then you must give your employer a minimum of one week's notice once you have have worked there for one month. This minimum is unaffected by longer service.
